Yes, I’m an oven and he’s a monk
November 2, 2009 at 1:59 am | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsHappy Halloween! It is a happy halloween as Tammi is now 36 weeks complete and her body is preparing to deliver as she enters the 37th week. Only a few weeks to go if that! We had a doctor’s appointment on Thursday. Dr. Sarkodie said that Tammi is 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. If you don’t know what that means, we’ll let you google it. She said that the baby wasn’t coming in the next week but could come the next! That means in 2 weeks! But from talking with other people, you just don’t know when it will happen. One girl from our sunday school class said she was 1 cm dilated for a month. Hearing that Tammi was 1 cm dilated was exciting though. Hearing those words made it more real that it was going to happen soon and made us panic that we had to get things in order now!
So to get things in order, Jared wanted to make some purchases of a few things that we definitely need before the baby comes. Therefore, we now have a travel system standing in our den (stroller, car seat, carrier). We wanted to get that so we could bring the baby home from the hospital as it could be anytime. We tried to find the diapers that Jared heard shows a line when they become wet, but we didn’t find them. Saturday was the day we went shopping and it was nice as it was our first shopping trip together to buy items for the baby. We both joked how we’d never have spent so much money on ourselves in one day as we did on the baby. We think we are almost ready however we need to pack our own bags for the hospital.
So for Halloween, we were invited to a friend’s costume party. Jared and I wanted to go as we’ve never dressed up for Halloween as adults. I got my idea from the internet and Jared helped me build it. We had so much fun coming up with the costumes. Click on the pictures for a larger view.
According to the pregnancy calendar update, Baby Fries now weights almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She will be considered full term on Thursday (Hallelujah!). According to our doctor, she is in the head down position. She’s been pushing hard on Tammi’s belly, letting us know she is cramped and wants to stretch. Sometimes it’s a little uncomfortable as she pushes up against a rib or Tammi’s side. We continue to become excited as she gets closer to her arrival. Check out the 36 week pictures of the parents to be.

Tammi – I am so excited for you that you are so close! I was almost completely effaced and 1 cm dilated the first time I got checked though and went 10 days late! So just remember to enjoy every moment and she’ll come when she’s ready. You definately have the pregnancy glow, so it looks like all is well. The pampers diapers are the ones with the line on them, so you probably already have some and don’t know it. I can’t wait to see pics of the little one in the next few weeks. I wish you an easy and fast labor!!
